The Community Broadcasters Association has filed suit in federal court, hoping to block the sale of digital TV converter boxes that do not have an "analog pass-through." The group says the converter boxes allow old analog TV sets to receive only digital signals.

The Community Broadcasters Association (CBA) last week asked an appeals court in Washington, D.C., to force the FCC to stop distribution and marketing of NTIA coupon-qualified converter boxes without analog-receive capability. The move has the potential to derail the nation’s transition to DTV in February 2009.

The DTV conversion is going well, or not, depending on which stakeholder you talk to. Broadcasters, retailers and manufacturers say they will do a better than adequate job because they have to. Others, particularly consumer advocates, aren't so sure.
